The Habitat for Humanity International Women Build Program was established in 1998 to encourage the involvement of more women in the construction of Habitat homes – simple, decent and affordable houses – in their communities. In October 2005, women in Aiken County picked up hammers and power tools and began building the first Aiken County Habitat for Humanity house constructed primarily by women. That home was dedicated in March 2006, and our women have never stopped.  Having now completed 13 Women Build homes in Aiken County through November 2023, our 14^TH Women Build construction project is planned for Spring 2025.

The Women Build Program provides a great environment for women to gain lifelong skills and make new friends while helping a deserving partner family.  We invite women of all ages to join in. The Aiken County Women Build theme is “Women Helping Women – No One Does It Alone.” Through building safe, affordable housing, Habitat for Humanity empowers volunteers and helps homeowner program participants to achieve the dream of homeownership. Program participants must have a need of better housing, be willing to partner with Habitat and have the ability to pay affordable mortgage and utility costs.  Everyone deserves a decent place to live.
